Not only is this VIP badge being presented to my wonderful wife Torrie but also my first combat award, my Combat Action Badge. I received this award for engaging and being engaged by the enemy. The true reason I was able to earn this award is because of Torrie's unwavering love and support. She has been serving on the "front lines" at home during my deployment to Afghanistan with little or no support. She is the one and only reason that I have been able to focus on my mission here and do what I can to keep myself, my fellow aviators, and our ground forces safe. She is my unsung hero and has been 100 times the wife and partner that I deserve. While others here are distracted by events at home, I have been able to remian focused because I know just how much Torrie and I love each other and that she would never leave my side in any respect. Torrie may not fit the typical "Military Spouse" mold. In fact, I say that she redefines that mold and sets a new standard that other spouses should strive to follow. I love her more than anyone in this world. This is just one small token to represent the pivotal role she plays in my life. I would be lost without her. I love her more than life itself.
